Four Stars, Low Language, Low Romance, Low Violence

True Colors are Beautiful

I have to confess, some of my favorite romantic gestures are when my husband does something completely silly and ridiculous, just because he knows it will make me smile. That’s probably what I loved most about this book. Both characters were willing to do the unexpected, and possibly even the embarrassing just for the happiness of another. Miss Burton Unmasks a Prince by Jennifer Moore is refreshing and adorable. Even though it’s set in England during the Napoleonic wars, neither of the main characters are English.

Miss Burton Unmasks a Prince by [Moore, Jennifer]

“Southern belle Meg Burton is her parents’ last hope of avoiding financial ruin, and a distant cousin’s kind gesture seems an ideal solution: he will sponsor Meg for a London Season. The pursuit of a wealthy husband was not exactly how the bookish young woman had envisioned her first trip abroad. Thankfully, she has one friend who knows her true self—Carlo, a handsome stable hand.

Prince Rodrigo de Talavera has lost everything to Napoleon. Jaded by war, he has become bitter and miserable—until he meets Meg, an American woman whose eccentric schemes and passion for life remind him what it is to laugh and to love. If only she knew him for himself and not as Carlo the stable hand. “

Meg was such a fun character to read, she reminds me of an American Catherine Morland and Jennifer Moore writes her with such wit that you instantly love her. Despite being about an American and a Spaniard this novel has all the aspects of an engaging regency novel; adventure, intrigue and romance, but with the perfect balance of whimsy that keeps you captivated from cover to cover.

This book and a newer one of her’s Miss Leslie’s Secret, which is now on my tbr list,  are both 3.99. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway below.
